Windows & Doors

Heavy Use: Windows & Doors

When it comes to painting windows and doors the key is in the prep work. Windows and doors experience the most wear and tear from weather and foot traffic respectively. Both require a great deal of sanding and caulking so that the surfaces are smooth and all cracks are filled. Most window sills need extra sanding and require a prime coat as extra protection. Know that we sand every inch on all doors to eliminate any scuffs, stains, or blemishes that accumulate over time.

Our 6-Step Interior Window & Door Painting Procedure

Create a smooth and uniform surface by sanding all window jams and casings that are rough or have raised grain. Sanding is typicalagainst siding for extended periods of time over the winter.
Caulk all cracks where casings meet with jams and any mitre joints in casings.
Mask off all areas that should not receive any primers or paints. We cover all vulnerable areas with plastic sheeting to insure no over spray gets on walls, flooring, furniture and the like.
In some cases the wood has been damaged by the sun so badly that tannins are coming to the surface of the wood. In this case the wood needs to be primed with an oil based primer to insure that the tannins will not seep through the finish coats of paint.
All product is applied with two coats of paint that is sprayed on and then either back rolled or back brushed in to insure proper adhesion. The second coat is not applied until the first coat has completely dried.
You have our guarantee that the job site is cleaned up with all equipment stored out of site at the end of every work day. At the end of the project we always return all fixtures, ornaments and furniture to its original state.
